The merger allows Global Payments to process an estimated $3.7 trillion in annual payment volume. The combined entity now serves more than 6 million merchant locations and handles approximately 94 billion transactions annually across more than 175 countries.

As part of a three-way transaction, Global Payments completed the divestiture of its Issuer Solutions business to FIS for an enterprise value of $13.5 billion.

The multi-party deal, first announced in April 2025, represents one of the largest and most significant acquisitions in the payments industry. 

FIS acquired Worldpay in 2019 for approximately $43 billion, including assumed debt. In 2023, FIS sold a majority stake in Worldpay to the private equity firm GTCR in a deal that valued the business at $18.5 billion.
