EquiLibre Raises Series A Round At €438M Valuation To Build Global AI Trading Platform

EquiLibre Technologies, the Prague-based AI lab founded by three former Google DeepMind researchers, has raised an undisclosed Series A round.

The Series A amount was not disclosed, but the company is now valued at more than €438 million, or about $500 million. The round was led by Creandum, and TechCrunch says Creandum called it its largest single investment in one company.

The round was led by Creandum, and, although the VC also declined to disclose the size of the round, vice president Cameron Sellers confirmed that it was the largest single investment the firm “has ever made in one go into a company,” he told TechCrunch.

The fresh capital will primarily be used to expand the company’s computing infrastructure. EquiLibre plans to build one of the largest AI compute clusters in Central and Eastern Europe to support the training of increasingly sophisticated trading models.

Founded in 2022 by Martin Schmid, EquiLibre Technologies is not another fintech app or analytics tool. It is a trading engine built around reinforcement-learning agents.

EquiLibre ingests live and historical market data. It updates feature sets. It trains or fine-tunes RL agents in simulated market environments. It tests strategies against transaction costs, liquidity limits, and market impact. It rejects policies that fail risk checks. It deploys accepted policies into an execution engine. The engine sends orders, cancels orders, changes position size, and exits trades based on the model’s policy. A risk system caps exposure, losses, leverage, and abnormal behavior.

Frontier AI is currently attracting significant attention from venture capitalists, making it a hot spot for VCs. Another recent such example is Ineffable Intelligence, which recently raised 1.1 billion. Most of these are based in the U.K., but there are notable exceptions, including EquiLibre.
